My Historic Playboy Cover with Kristie Taylor

There are a few moments in my career that I can reflect back on knowing they were pretty significant. - And this is one of them.

I’ve shot numerous covers and spreads for Playboy over the years but this one is special.

I consider it an honour to have been chosen to shoot Playboys Special Editions Farewell Cover.  You see, Playboy has closed down their Special Editions.

To me, this is more than just another cover. This one will be historic.

As I understand it, this one has already become a collectors item. All the stores I visited looking for a copy had sold out.

Do you know which other one is a collectors item?

The very first Playboy cover featuring Marilyn Monroe.

A special thanks to everyone that’s been a part of this journey thus far;  Jeff Cohen for having faith, Tailor James for pushing for me, Stacy Collins for keeping the faith, Kate Horton for the Dolphin (inside joke), Lori Fabrizio photo production and make up artist from our 1st PB cover to last, Valeria Nova make up hair and styling, Sarah Scotford styling, and of course to all the models.

I feel like I just gave an Oscar speech. <GRIN>

I’ll be back to share more about the shoot later on. I just couldn’t wait to share. It’s rare I get this excited over an image.

Here’s a link to some never before seen behind the scenes pics from this shoot.

To me, photography is all about that ‘captured moment’. I find this to be one of the most significant components of a spectacular image. I even prefer it at the expense of lighting and/or composition. That’s right, sometimes it’s just about knowing when to take the picture.
