Julie Marsland, born and raised in Montreal, was destined to be an athlete and
performer from the day she emerged from the womb. Her parents enrolled her in
every sport imaginable, from ballet to tennis, swimming to skiing. But, is was
to soccer and dance that she truly developed a love and talent for. For ten
years, she played elite soccer, winning nationals in 1994. She also danced for
17 years, of which she instructed for 6, studying various techniques such as
ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and tap. She also studied and earned her college
degree in modern dance and aspired to become a professional dancer.
However, when the reality of the industry set in (injuries, living contract to
contract
) she opted to fly the friendly skies and became a Flight
Attendant in 1999 and has been doing so full time ever since. Having left the
world of dance, she was subject to an inconsistent schedule, flying to the four
corners of the globe with no physical activity to speak of. This lack of
activity her to the gym, which is where she discovered her natural genetic
predisposition to put on muscle mass.
When September 11th, 2001 occurred, the aviation industry also took a severe
hit. The airline was laying off 25 percent of its Flight Attendants and Julie
was left to find a plan B. It was then she decided to do her certifications to
become a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. Being competitive by
nature and craving to return centre stage, Julie decided to put herself to the
test and enrolled in her first competition, WNSO FAME East Fitness Model, 2005
and placed 2nd.
Since then, her titles are as follows:
1st place - WNSO FAME World Championships 2005, Fitness Model (Advanced)
1st place - MVP Quest 2006
2nd place - WNSO FAME World Championships 2006, Fitness Model (Pro)
1st place - Miami Universe Weekend 2006, Model Universe.
Her next competition is the WNSO FAME North American Championships, being held
November 3rd, 2006 in Miami, FL.
Since her debut only 1½ years ago, she has had the opportunity to work
with several top industry photographers. She currently has a 14 page spread in
the special lingerie edition of American Curves. She's been in numerous print
ads, articles, catalogues and will be gracing the covers of both Oxygen and
Muscle & Fitness Hers this upcoming year.
Take a good look at her and remember, you saw her here first. |
