An On-Line Journal

2004 01 08 - Any Openings at Maytag?

I've been looking to add some new images to my portfolio as of late.
As a result I had decided to find 'model registry' sites to advertise that I'm looking for TFP.
(TFP is modelling lingo meaning trade for prints/pics - It basically means no money is exchanged between the model and photographer)

After posting my ad, I received numerous requests from models showing interest.
"Oh goodie", I thought to myself - I'll be able to add to my portfolio.

However, I started noticing a trend.
I'd be back and forth with models via emails and as soon as I provide my phone number to facilitate communication, I start to hear crickets.

It's not that I don't believe the models I've been chatting with - On the contrary, I'm sure they're interested. It's just that as soon as I ask them to call I think they become intimidated.

I'd ask for their numbers but fear I might seem too pushy/persistent.

Anyhow, today my luck turned for the better.
A model finally called and we met.

We had a nice long chat and set a date to shoot next week.

With any luck, I'll have some new images up this time next week.

In the meantime, I'll be sitting here by the phone.

OMG, I just realized, I have become the Maytag repair man of photography.
