2004 11 30 - ENOUGH!

A friend of mine suggested I watch Supersize Me.
At first I wasn't sure if he was trying to tell me something. You see, for the last several months I've been neglecting my diet and worse still, my exercise - Gaining about 15 pounds in the process.

He assured me the reason he was lending me the DVD was for entertainment purposes only.

Aside: For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last little while, Supersize Me is a documentary showing what would happen to a regular (in shape) guy if he went on a 30 day McDonald's diet.
Basically, if it wasn't on the McDonald's menu - He couldn't eat it.

I thought this would end up being a cute little documentary - Boy was I wrong.
This movie has changed my life - Who knows, it may have even saved it.

Here's the crazy part; I already knew everything I was going to see as everyone I had spoken to had told me all about it. Even without them telling me, I knew before this movie that McDonald's food is not good for you.

Somehow, knowing just wasn't enough.

I'm not going to get into the details of the move, suffice to say you have to see it to understand.

Now let me make a small confession.
I'm addicted to Diet Pepsi.

For the last, oh say, 10 years I have been drinking diet sodas. For the last 5 of them specifically Diet Pepsi.
So what right? Everyone drinks soda from time to time. Well, ladies and gentlemen I was putting back about 2 Gallons or 4 Liters of the stuff per day. I would sit at the computer with a bottle this size

Diet Pepsi Addict

And finish it in under an hour.
Not just that either, no matter where I went I always had a can of the stuff nearby.

People would often ask me how much of the stuff I'd drink per day and I would always (embarrassingly) lie. I knew I was doing something harmful to myself and I was even ashamed of it but I could never bring myself to stop - Until now.

I effectively quit Diet Pepsi, and all sodas for that matter, Saturday night after the movie.
I went through the house and threw out all the chips, unhealthy snacks and almost all my Soda.
I kept some as I had suspected I might need to come off the addiction slowly.

I'm going to keep a log of my adventure right on my journal page so be sure to check it out.

At this point I'm going to stop and leave you with a thought: Why is it mostly fat people drink Diet Pepsi?
